Guinness Book entry for Race Across Australia

09. Feb. 2011

We congratulate the “Race Across Australia” team who has now officially been accepted by the Guinness World Records LTD and will be included in the Guinness Book of World Records for having crossed Australia on hand bikes in world record time.

In six days, ten hours and 42 minutes our handbikers from the wheelchair club ENJO Vorarlberg rode from one side of Australia to the other.
They have endured dangerous downhills and the total darkness of the Australian Outback. Thomas Bechter, Philipp Bonadimann, Jürgen Egle and Wolfgang Wimmer drove their handbikes in turns from Perth to Sydney. A 4,000 km distance and over 12,000 metres of altitude was travelled. They have accomplished what noone had before and will now enter the Guinness Book of World Records. The pain and tiredness was forgotten when the team reached the finish line on Saturday morning. The athletes were welcomed of many fans and the ENJO team with Johannes Engl.

ENJO is honoured to accompany the athletes of the wheelchair club RC ENJO Vorarlberg, Austria as main sponsor since 1995.
